The FLFI are looking for volunteers to get involved in areas that don’t necessarily  mean getting your hands dirty!  Please find below a list of people we need and the sorts of tasks involved.  If you think you might be interested helping out with any of these tasks please contact Sarah on 0844 415 2620 or email info@farnhamfood.com for more information.

Membership Secretary

What’s involved:  Update membership database with new members, send out correspondence by mostly e mail but sometimes by post. Some telephone work  Provide member info to SG.  Attend SG meetings from time to time.
Estimated hours per week? 2 or 3 during busy times (membership renewal months) probably less the rest of the time.
Skills required?:  Computer literate, familiar with e mail, MS Word, Excel, good organiser.
Internet/e mail/telephone access required.  Car not essential.

Site Volunteer co-ordinator

What’s involved:  Organising our bank of willing volunteers to ensure we have sufficient assistance where and when required.  Organising rotas, telephone work, some admin.  Site visits.  Attending SG meetings from time to time. 
Estimated hours per week? 3-4  maybe more in the beginning.
Skills required:  Good organiser, computer literate, good communicator
Internet/e-mail/telephone access required. Car essential.

Fund-raiser

What’s involved:  Coming up with ideas to raise cash for the FLFI, working with social events organiser/publicity representatives to co-ordinate fund raising opportunities.  Attending SG meetings from time to time
Estimated hours per week? From 2 could be much more!
Skills required:  Fund raising experience would be good but not essential, good communicator.
Internet/e-mail/telephone access.

Children’s co-ordinator

What’s involved: Organising anything to do with children and the FLFI eg: coming up with and implementing ideas to entertain children on site.  Co-ordinate with Grower on children’s garden.  Liaising with local schools to organise school visits.  Liaising with volunteer co-ordinator. 

Growers Trainee

What’s involved:  Learning all the skills of growing vegetables under the supervision of the grower while assisting in the running of the three sites.  We are looking for committed people who would be willing to offer their new found skills once the organisation grows.
Estimated hours per week? 6 hours per week
Skills required:  Reliable, willingness to learn, committed . Car not essential but will need to be able to get to both sites.
