We have been keeping busy whilst the ground is frozen.

Something a little different than harvesting/weeding/sowing …. a group of volunteers from FLF have just started making “morsbags”.  We are getting together with our sewing machines and making fabric shopping bags from recycled or surplus material. We are then giving these away to help reduce the number of plastic carrier bags in use.

If anyone would like to join us at Farnham Maltings between 10am and 4pm on Saturday 11th May, we will be hosting a “make-and-take” FREE workshop.  Come along and make a bag  for yourself or to add to our supplies for sharing. Sewing machines and all materials will be supplied. No prior sewing experience required. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

We would also appreciate and make good use of any donations of fabric which we can recycle into bags. Thanks.

I’m sure I have some cotton and pvc fabric under my spare room bed! I used to use the latter to make covers for small kitchen electrical aids (toasters/food processors etc). Am returning to Farnham from Cumbria next Tues. 15th so will see what I can find and run up some bags and/or bring the fabric to the Maltings a.m. on 11th May.

Thanks; that’s fantastic. Particularly, the PVC as there is someone wanting to try and make a waterproof one. Look forward to seeing you on the 11th if not in the field beforehand. We will have plenty of machines set up at the Maltings so if you’ve not made any beforehand they will be a chance then.
